Toronto, April 13th – A vote conducted today by the Ontario Labour Relations Board saw 96% of employees at Amer Sports in Belleville choose to be represented by Workers United rather than UNITE HERE.
“I’m glad that our members can finally move forward now that we have officially gotten rid of UNITE HERE!” said Randy Hutchinson, a special orders representative at Amer Sports. “UNITE HERE didn’t even send a representative to the vote, once again showing that they especially don’t care about members outside of Toronto. My coworkers and I are extremely pleased to be able to reaffirm our support of Workers United as our union of choice!”
“Amer Sports members have been members of the Ontario Council since 1971.” said Alex Dagg, Director of Workers United Ontario Council. “Having these long standing members reaffirm their support for Workers United through this vote clearly reinforces their previous decision to leave UNITE HERE. It is a shame that UNITE HERE refuses to recognize the choice of all our other members who wish to have nothing to do with them.” Read the rest of this entry »
