Workers United:

Workers United (an SEIU affiliate) is a union of 150,000 workers in the US and Canada who work in the laundry, food service, hospitality, gaming, apparel, textile, manufacturing and distribution industries. Workers United is a new union with a 100 year heritage, and includes members from predecessor unions like the ILGWU, ACTWU, UNITE and UNITE HERE.

The Ontario Council:

Workers United Ontario Council is the union’s Ontario chapter, representing over 9,000 workers. We have a strong track record of organizing workplaces that are particularly difficult to organize due to irregular shifts and high employee turnover.  The Ontario Council history began in 1902 when the first union was formed in Canada under the name ILGWU.  Since then we have gone through multiple names changes.  However, we remain the union of choice for workers in diverse industries such as food service, manufacturing, textile, distribution, hotels, gaming, and social services.
